Hi there! I’m Dr. Jacqueline Fisher, PhD and I am an independent patient advocate. But you can call me Jax. I have a BS in criminal justice, dual MS in earthology and abidance counseling, and dual PhD in psychemistry and geopsychology. I am a former EMT and personal trainer.

I am disabled. I am a medical zebra. I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), craniocervical instability (CCI), chiari malformation, intracranial hypertension (IH), tethered cord syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), asthma, ADHD, and PTSD. I also have a VP shunt, a skull-C6 fusion, and a portacath. I have endured 42 surgeries in my 37 years of life. My cervical fusion is crumbling and crushing my spine and I’ve struggled for at least two years to find appropriate care; I am currently a patient at the Mayo Clinic and I’m hoping they can determine appropriate surgical options.

I have spent the last 11 years learning to navigate the US healthcare system and, at many times, it has felt like torture. Our healthcare system is broken and navigating the chaos of it can be a full-time job in itself. When you’re sick and barely have the strength to hold your own head up, advocating for yourself can feel impossible.

I’m a patient advocate who will fight for you, so you can focus your energy on healing. Whether it’s cancer, chronic illness, or acute injury – you deserve to be heard and you know your body best. As an advocate, I can help you with phone calls and scheduling appointments or filling out paperwork and standing up to medical personnel, to demand appropriate medical care.
